Summary

"This book explores why certain nations are highly successful at winning Olympic medals and why other nations fail. As a physician and epidemiologist, I apply statistical methods to assess national factors that explain Olympic success, the most quantifiable of which are national wealth and democratic form of government, and then use multiple case studies and a deeper analysis of individual nations to illustrate other factors that matter, but cannot be quantified, including genetics (including genetic diversification through immigration) and sports accessibility. This analysis allows me to present a model of empowerment that provides a roadmap to enable more nations to fully empower their population to succeed at the Olympics"-- Provided by publisher.
