Summary

"When does a book begin to be written?" Octavio Paz had ventured in The Double Flame. If I were to follow his lead, I would have to say, I began writing the first draft of this book in 2018 and finished in 2023. That would, however, elide over the number of times I let it go and let it sit, gathering dust and termites; formulated and reformulated my thoughts; restructured how to present the same information again and again; and the disruptions that the coronavirus pandemic and the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza, ongoing as I write this, caused to the writing process. Indeed, by trying to live as if an entire people is not being wiped out on the other side of the world is how we inadvertently support militarized capitalism"-- Provided by publisher.
