At the State House in Boston, Calvin Coolidge is sworn in for his second term as Governor of Massachusetts Jan. 8, 1920. The ceremony actually took place in the Chamber of the House of Representatives, but film is shot in the Council Chamber. Coolidge is sworn in by man who is probably Edwin T. McKnight, President of the State Senate. Gov. Coolidge, members of his staff, and the Executive Council pose for the camera. Standing in the front are Gov. Coolidge and Lieutenant Gov. Channing H. Cox; seated, left to right, are: Councillors James G. Harris, George B. Wason, Matthew J. Whittall, and Harry H. Williams. In the back row, left to right, are: Secretary to the Governor Henry F. Long (visible between Coolidge and Cox), Assistant Secretary Harry S. Fairfield, Councillor Lewis R. Sullivan, Executive Secretary Charles S. Southworth, Councillor Horace A. Carter, Councillor Henry L. Bowles, and Edward Horrigan, the Governor's body guard.
