Summary

"Wake Forest Baptist Church in Wake Forest, North Carolina, was established in 1835 and is one of the most prominent Baptist congregations in the state. Beginning with a prayer meeting among students seeking revival, its location on the campus of Wake Forest College gave the church a distinction and importance that was forever tied to its academic neighbor. When the college moved to Winston-Salem in the middle of the twentieth century, the establishment of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary on the old campus brought new opportunities to the church. Some of the great names among Baptists in the South have come through the church, either as pastor or as guest minister. Throughout its history, the members of this church have sought to follow the leadership of the Spirit and minister to its local community"-- Provided by publisher.
