Grundlage dieser neuen Sicht ist ein dezidiert theatrales Verständnis des kirchlichen Lebens: In Gottesdienst und Unterricht werden religiöse Rollen eingeübt; in Gemeindegruppen verdichten sich die typischen Konfliktmuster des religiösen Lebens; die Gebäude der Kirche sind als Bühne für die szenische Aufführung des Glaubens zu gestalten. Zur Entfaltung dieser theatralen Sichtweise nutzt der Autor u.a. Impulse aus Ernst Langes Theorie kirchlichen Handelns, aus der Schauspiel- und Regietheorie Bert Brechts sowie aus der Beratungspraxis des sog. Familienstellens. Der praktische Gewinn einer solchen szenischen Kybernetik wird deutlich anhand von Studien zur kirchlichen Gebäudeplanung sowie zur kirchlichen Leitungspraxis unter den Bedingungen der Corona-Epidemie. Der Leitbegriff der Inszenierung markiert besonders den planend-entwerfenden Charakter des Leitens: Im Unterschied zu den einzelnen Aufführungen in Gottesdienst, Seelsorge oder Diakonie vollzieht sich das leitende Handeln - von Pfarrer:innen wie Kirchenvorständen oder Projektgruppen - gleichsam auf einer Probebühne, auf der Modelle kirchlicher Praxis er-kundet, vor ausgewähltem Publikum auspro-biert und in diversen Konstellationen besprochen werden.
